Job Summary:
The Veterinary Nurse Educator is responsible for providing comprehensive education and training to veterinary nurses, ensuring the development of competent and skilled professionals in the field. This role requires a strong background in veterinary medicine, teaching experience, and the ability to deliver engaging educational programs. The Veterinary Nurse Educator will work closely with the Director of Veterinary Nursing to develop and implement curriculum, assess learning outcomes, and support continuous improvement in veterinary nursing education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop and deliver educational programs, courses, and workshops for veterinary nurses.
2. Utilize effective instructional techniques and methodologies to engage learners and promote active participation.
3. Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accurate and up-to-date content delivery.
4. Assess the learning needs of veterinary nurses and design curriculum accordingly.
5. Implement appropriate assessment methods to evaluate students' comprehension, knowledge, and skills.
6. Provide constructive feedback to students, identifying areas for improvement and offering guidance.
7. Facilitate discussions, workshops, and practical sessions to enhance students' understanding and application of veterinary nursing concepts.
8. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and program evaluations.
9. Stay up-to-date with advancements in veterinary medicine and nursing practices to ensure the delivery of relevant and current educational content.
10. Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
11. Collaborate with the Director of Veterinary Nursing to review and revise curriculum, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
12. Contribute to the development of educational resources, including textbooks, handouts, online materials, and assessments.
13. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting respect and professionalism among students.
14. Provide guidance and mentorship to veterinary nurses to support their professional growth and development.
15. Maintain professional relationships with industry stakeholders, participating in conferences and workshops to enhance networking opportunities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Nursing or a related field. A Master's degree in Veterinary Nursing or Education is preferred.
2. Certified Veterinary Nurse (CVN) or equivalent certification required.
3. Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a veterinary nurse in a clinical setting.
4. Proven experience in teaching or training veterinary nursing students or professionals.
5. Excellent knowledge of veterinary medicine, nursing techniques, and clinical practices.
6. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
7. Proficient in instructional design and curriculum development.
8. Familiarity with instructional technologies and e-learning platforms.
9. Ability to assess learning outcomes and provide constructive feedback.
10. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
